If the operation is to enlarge the chin with an implant the principle of the operation is straightforward. A small pocket is made in front of the chin and a plastic implant placed in the pocket. If the bone is repositioned then the operation is more complicated. The bone is cut and moved into its new position. It is held in place with wires or metal plates.
