- rhinoplasty in older patients
Patients over the age of fifty can get a good result from rhinoplasty but may experience two problems not seen in younger patients.
The skin of the nose is less elastic in older patients and may not redrape to the new shape as successfully. Occasionally it is necessary to tailor the skin to the new nose shape.
Emotionally older patients may take longer to adjust to the new shape of their nose. This can be a difficult time for both the patient and the surgeon. Still, most patients adapt successfully within three to four months.
