- Where is the scar going to be?
The scars for a rhinoplasty are usually placed inside the nose. Sometimes incisions are made along the junction of the nose and lip to make the nostril less flared. On occasion, your plastic surgeonmay recommend an operation called an open rhinoplasty, where the scars include external scars on the central part of the nose called the columella. All surgery requires a scar and all scars take time to soften and fade. You will not see the final appearance of your scar for a year after surgery. It is usually red and raised for the first month or two after your operation.
