| Contour depression after a buttock lift (posterior thigh lift) |
|
| The most common deformity after a buttock or posterior thigh lift is bulging and indentation causing contour depressions. These are most common in the outer thigh above the prominence of the bone, called the supratrochanteric region.
They are due to removal of too much tissue, death or necrosis of fat and infections. Sometimes scarring may attach the skin to deeper tissue and create the same appearance. Bulges are due to remaining fat. This is most common over the bony prominence of the outer thigh, the trochanter. Bulging of fat can create an appearance of indentation because it contrasts with other areas. This problem can occur on one or both sides but is often asymmetrical. This problem may not be easy to treat because the blood supply of the area has been damaged by previous surgery and scar tissue is present. Ultrasonic liposuction may be a useful technique for revision surgery of this kind. |
