EMOTIONAL ASPECTS OF COSMETIC SURGERY

Disguising the effects of surgery

related articles
After cosmetic surgery most people want to see a change but not so much of a change that other people know they have had surgery. This is a fine line for both the patient and surgeon. It is often more difficult for men because they cannot conceal the scars with makeup. In general after aging change operations, such as a facelift, the surgeon will aim for a rested appearance. Some operations, such as breast augmentation, and rhinoplasty are less easy to conceal.

It is a good idea to decide how you are going to tell people about the check sourcesurgery well in advance. Some people tell all their friends, while others like to keep it to themselves. In general it is easiest if you let those around you know about the surgery because then you do not have to waste energy searching for ways to hide it.

However, there are several ways you can make the transition less noticeable. One recommended method is to change something else about yourself so that others will think that the change in your appearance is due to your new style and not the surgery.

Some suggestions are:

If you are having body sculpturing operations, like liposuction or breast augmentation, you might try wearing lose clothes for a week or two around the time of surgery so the changes can be gradually introduced.
