INFORMATION FOR DR. HUDSON'S PATIENTS Anesthesia for scar revision related articles Many of the operations for scar revision can be performed under local anesthetic. The choice of local or general anesthetic is up to you. About half of my patients choose to go to sleep. I have found that children and teenagers, up to the age of about eighteen, are poor candidates for local anesthetic because they are often nervous during a long operation. In these situations I usually recommend general anesthetic. If you have a general anesthetic you should be aware of the risks and your anesthesiologist will describe them to you.
