When can I return to work?

After any operation it is necessary to rest completely for a day or two. During the first week you will begin to feel more like yourself. By the end of a week you may be able to perform light duties such as using a telephone or computer. You should not do any heavy lifting, greater than 25 lbs or 11 kg, for at least a month. Most patients take about a week off work, but if you do not mind wearing a bandage you can probably go back to work within a few days.

Sports activities are limited for about a month. During vigorous or body contact sports the ear must be protected for several months.
